Description

As part of our event series "Adventures in Homeland", you will visit the water castle Crottorf on this date, which is privately owned by the House of Hatzfeldt-Wildenburg.

Dive into the development of the castle from its first documentary mention in 1326 to the present day.
Dr. Jens Friedhoff, a historian and expert on the Hatzfeldt family, will explain the history of Crottorf Castle and will show you the grounds and the courtyard.

The water castle Crottorf, owned by the Hatzfeldt family since 1563, ranks among the most significant art and historical monuments in the Altenkirchen district, along with the castles Schönstein near Wissen, Friedewald near Daaden, Wildenburg, and Freusburg near Kirchen on the Sieg.
