Detailed description

THE DAADETALBAHN

HOURLY, RELIABLE, MODERN

Since 1994, the Westerwaldbahn has been operating the route and the train service on the Daadetalbahn. The responsible authority – the Zweckverband Schienenpersonennahverkehr Rheinland-Pfalz Nord (short: SPNV-Nord) had re-tendered the Daaden-Betzdorf route in 2013. The Westerwaldbahn applied and was awarded the contract to operate the train service until December 31, 2029.

Today, we operate the Daadetalbahn on an hourly basis. In regular train services, we use diesel-electric multiple units. The articulated train, which is three meters wide and 38.7 meters long, has 98 seats, including 11 first-class seats. The special features include standard air conditioning, a low-floor percentage of 70 percent, and a barrier-free toilet system. Maintenance of these vehicles takes place in our in-house workshop in Steinebach-Bindweide.

The Daadetalbahn operates on an hourly basis from 4:40 AM to 10:21 PM on the route from Betzdorf to Daaden. The route runs from Betzdorf via Alsdorf, stopping at Schutzbach, Niederdreisbach, and Biersdorf. The final stop is Daaden. Here, the station is located very centrally, in close proximity to the town center.

Tickets are sold quickly and reliably using electronic ticket printers by the train driver on board the train.
