Detailed description

The tranquil valley of the Köttingsbach initially rises gently, later with a steeper ascent from Wissen to the district of Köttingerhöhe with beautiful views. Several hiking trails run through the Köttingsbach municipal forest, such as the access route to the Westerwaldsteig from the RegioBahnhof Wissen into the Kroppacher Schweiz.

In 2023, the interesting Tree Educational Trail will be newly opened here – a project by the city of Wissen, students of the Kopernikus-Gymnasium Wissen, and several donors. A total of 22 trees will be presented along a length of approximately 500 m along the hiking trail, from the bird cherry to the mountain maple. There are 2 entrances to the Köttingsbach Tree Educational Trail:

Lower entrance from the direction of Wissen (city center) via the street "Am Schützenplatz," or follow the yellow-green marked access route to the Westerwaldsteig from RegioBahnhof Wissen
Upper entrance from the direction of Wissen-Köttingerhöhe at the intersection of Köttinger Weg/Böhmerstraße (by the chapel there) follow the meadow path downhill

Parking is available from the direction of the lower entrance; parking is not possible at the upper entrance (please do not park on agricultural land). There are sufficient parking options at the RegioBahnhof Wissen (P + R) as well as throughout the entire area of Wissen.
