Katholische Kirche St. Bonifatius Elkhausen

Detailed description

In 1859, the school building - now the parish and youth center - in Elkhausen was constructed. After a small sacristy was added to the school building in 1872, the blessing of the school hall and the first Mass in Elkhausen took place on February 11, 1872.

Now the plan matured to build a church of its own in Elkhausen. On April 25, 1878, the foundation stone was laid, and already on August 3, 1879, the blessing of the new chapel took place.

In 1912, the chapel was expanded into a parish church. The consecration of the new parish church "St. Bonifatius" took place on December 10, 1912. The parish church, built in the neo-Romanesque style, remains an important architectural monument of the region to this day.
