The meeting point is the Tourist Information at the RegioBahnhof Wissen.

Description

Do you know where the "Köttelswälze" was, or have you heard of the "Ahlen Hahlscheed"? No?

Then it's time for a city tour of the old village of Wissen. During this approximately 2-hour and 2 km long tour through the old upper and lower village, we will take a journey back in time to Wissen before industrialization. We start at the RegioBahnhof and then follow Bahnhofstraße along Hintergasse to dive into old Wissen. Here you will learn a lot about the daily lives of our ancestors and have the opportunity to discover some remnants from that time. We continue over the marketplace to the church square of the Catholic Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, to the listed "Halbmondhäuser" and their stories. Further along Bogenstraße, we reach the Sieggärten "Auf dem Statt" and the Sieg promenade. Here we get closer to understanding the significance of the old customs bridge. Afterwards, we head back to the train station via Walzwerkstraße.

The path is mostly barrier-free. Only the section through the Sieggärten is a grassy field path, which is therefore slightly uneven. Sturdy footwear is recommended.

Arrival Information

Parking options: On weekends at the parking deck (P+R) directly at the train station, on weekdays at kulturWERKwissen (Walzwerkstraße 22, 57537 Wissen). The train station is accessible on foot via the bridge or by elevator.

Children up to 14 years are free.
For group tours 6.00 euros per person,
minimum charge 60.00 euros
Please pay the participation fee in cash at the beginning of the tour to your tour guide Isabella Groß.
