Reminds of the former rolling mill in Wissen.
Rolling frames were the centerpiece of the former tin plate rolling mill in Wissen. After the bitter end of the mining industry in the region, among other things, the rolling frames were dismantled and transported to China, where they may still be in use today. None of them remained as an industrial monument/memento in Wissen.
In 2012, the city of Wissen was able to acquire a decommissioned rolling frame from the company Hoesch Hohenlimburg GmbH in Hagen. The rolling frame, built in 1955 and manufactured by Schloemann AG in Düsseldorf, was previously located on Mittelbandstraße at the Hoesch Hohenlimburg company. It is a “quarto frame”, consisting of two roller stands with drive and two support rollers and two work rollers each. After its removal from Mittelbandstraße in Hohenlimburg at the end of 2012, the rolling frame was refurbished by ThyssenKrupp in Duisburg in 2013. It was installed in Wissen on December 13, 2014.
The rolling frame weighs approximately 60 tons in total. For the installation, an area on the property of the company Pflanzenhof Schürg was selected. This was roughly the location of the reversing frame II of the former Hoesch plant in Wissen, where, however, "broad band" was rolled instead of "medium band".
