In the disused Bindweide iron ore mine, families can experience at first hand what the hard work of miners used to be like - explained in a way that is suitable for children and presented in a fascinating way. Highlight: The mine railway goes directly into the mine! If you want to try out the feeling of being underground, the Herdorf-Sassenroth Mining Museum is the place for you: the show mine under the museum is accessible and can also be visited by people with disabilities by prior arrangement.
On hot days, the largest natural outdoor pool in the Westerwald is a great place to cool off. The Thalhauser Mühle outdoor and forest swimming pool boasts a spacious sunbathing lawn, water and adventure playground for children and a wonderful location surrounded by greenery. The highlight is a 7m waterclimbing tower. Perfect for a relaxing family day with plenty of space for splashing, romping and picnicking.

The colourful hall with trampolines, climbing tower, go-kart track and lots of play equipment is a popular meeting place for families, especially on rainy days. A classic that never gets boring: Niederfischbach Zoo is home to over 300 animals from all over the world - from lynxes and monkeys to goats that are happy to be visited in the petting enclosure. A large playground, family-friendly prices and a location close to nature make the zoo a popular excursion destination for all age groups.
The German Raiffeisen Museum offers hands-on history.
