The WesterwaldSteig leads through the fascinating landscape of the Westerwald and guarantees nature experiences and adventure. Awarded the "Wanderbares Deutschland" quality seal by the German Hiking Association, this long-distance hiking trail is regularly inspected to ensure the highest standards and quality for hiking enthusiasts.
Stages 10 to 14 are located in the picturesque Westerwald-Sieg region and invite you to experience the beauty and diversity of this unique area. A hiking trail that is one of the Top Trails of Germany awaits you here and will delight adventure-seekers who are looking for more - more nature, more tranquillity, more thrills and unforgettable hiking experiences.
Immerse yourself in the mystical world of the Druidensteig trail, which leads from the Siegtal valley to the Westerwald forest over 83 kilometres and six exciting stages. Discover the scenic diversity of six river valleys, impressive geological formations, picturesque views and charming adventure locations. Named after the Druidenstein, a unique basalt formation and recognised national geotope, this certified long-distance hiking trail offers a perfect combination of nature experience and adventure.
Directly from the railway station into the lush green of the Sieg nature region: a unique hiking experience along the varied landscape of the Sieg Valley awaits you on the almost 200 km long Sieg Nature Trail. On a total of 14 stages, you accompany the Sieg from Siegburg to Mudersbach. Stages 9 to 14 lead through the Westerwald-Sieg holiday region. Sometimes the paths meander through forests up to impressive views over the Sieg valley, sometimes you hike directly along the river and enjoy the calming sound of the water. Again and again, the route takes you along natural paths with foliage and over hill and dale - because the Natursteig Sieg is certified as a quality hiking trail and guarantees unforgettable moments in nature. What makes it special: Each stage starts and ends at a railway station, making it easy for you to plan your arrival and departure.
The approx. 110 km long Wiedweg follows the longest river in the Westerwald - the Wied - and offers a first-class hiking experience through unspoilt nature and charming landscapes. From the start at the source of the Wied near Linden, the trail leads in 7 stages along narrow, natural paths across the Westerwald lake district to its mouth in the Rhine near Neuwied. With spectacular views and varied passages along the sometimes calm, sometimes lively river, the Wiedweg was once again recognised as a "Wanderbares Deutschland" quality trail in 2022. The blue W on a white background guides you safely through this fascinating river landscape in the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park and in 2 stages also through the Westerwald-Sieg region.
