Interest group of tour guides Westerwald-Sieg

Founded at the end of September 2024, the Westerwald-Sieg Tourist Guide Interest Group has set itself the goal of marketing high-quality tourist offers and networking tour guides in the region. When it was founded, 17 tour guides from the entire district of Altenkirchen joined forces and pledged to continuously improve the quality and range of guided tours in the region.

The impetus for the establishment of an interest group came from the successful tour guide training course 2023, which was organised by Westerwald-Sieg Tourismus in collaboration with the Altenkirchen District Adult Education Centre. As part of this training, 25 new tour guides were trained and qualified for the district, resulting in a wide range of guided tours and experiences for the region. Many of the tours can be booked via the district adult education centre and the tourism website www.westerwald-sieg.de. The community's commitment is characterised, among other things, by regular get-togethers that take place at various touristically relevant locations in the district.

As a regional association, the community of interest is now about to join the Federal Association of Tour Guides in Germany (BVGD). The professional association qualifies the tour guides as professional service providers in tourism and thus offers a platform for the exchange and further development as well as supra-regional marketing of the offers. In future, the Westerwald-Sieg tour guides will be listed on the gaesteführer.de website and represent the district of Altenkirchen. In addition, members will receive support in comprehensive legal and commercial matters relating to their work.
