City tour through the town center of Wissen an der Sieg - Buildings, people, and stories
The railway connection changed everything: From the small village of Wissen, a significant mining and industrial location emerged in the 19th and 20th centuries. We start the 2-hour, 2.5 km tour with a view of the “kulturWERKwissen.” Here, Alfredhütte, Sandberg, and the rolling mill once shaped the city's image. The brewery's history comes alive at the Germania Hotel.
Next, we continue to the director's villa from the early 20th century on Heisterstraße and through the former rolling mill settlement on Hockelbachstraße.
Through the multi-generational park “Steinbuschanlage,” we reach “Hüll.” A historic street that tells of trade and freight wagons. From there, we walk to the Catholic Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and further to the market room. Here we learn about a spectacular divorce case in the mid-19th century, involving Sophie Countess of Hatzfeldt and Ferdinand Lassalle.

Parking options: On weekends in the parking deck (P+R) directly at the train station, on weekdays at kulturWERKwissen (Walzwerkstraße 22, 57537 Wissen). The train station is accessible on foot via the bridge or by elevator.
